Ridge Motorsports Park Announces Leadership Transition

SHELTON, Washington (February 8, 2017) – The Ridge Motorsports Park announced today that Tracie Schmitt, former Director of Marketing & Business Development, will replace Fred Wright as General Manager at The Ridge, effective February 11th, 2017.

As The Ridge begins its 6th year of operations under Fred’s leadership, the facility has seen strong growth, along with the development of key infrastructure and many new features and amenities. Future expansion goals for The Ridge include adding National level events to all of the surfaces, including the road racing circuit, kart track, and motocross facility.

Fred reflected on his stint as General Manager at The Ridge, “It’s been a tremendous honor and a huge amount of fun to lead the development and growth of this amazing facility. I’m proud of what we have accomplished, but I’m also glad we are ready for the growth stage of our business plan. While I’m somewhat sad that the start-up days seemed to have just flown by, we are now at a transitional point and incoming GM Tracie Schmitt is uniquely qualified to take this project to the next level.”

Tracie Schmitt has a diverse background, including extensive experience in motorsports management, consulting, and marketing. In addition to these key qualifications, she also brings long standing collaborative associations with other nationally ranked motorsports facilities, relationships that will help facilitate the next growth stage at Ridge Motorsports Park. Tracie’s strengths include strategic partnering, client relations, staff and budgetary management, cost analysis, operations, cross-functional leadership, and all aspects of marketing management ranging from media buys, to campaign innovation, and growth objectives and direction.  She has successfully managed multi-million dollar budgets and complex motorsports events, including NHRA National events. She has experience collaborating with corporate partners and major media including ESPN, SPEED Channel and other major networks, to drive events. Tracie is recognized in the motorsports industry as a high performer, having been honored as the ESPN radio 2011 Promoter of the Year.

“Fred’s stewardship of The Ridge has been instrumental in bringing the business from the start-up phase to our strong position in the marketplace today”, said Co-Owner Rusty Gill. “Joe and I are grateful for Fred’s governance and positioning us for the opportunity to transition into the next phase of growth under Tracie’s leadership.”

Statement from Fred Wright: “I want to give heartfelt thanks to all of our user groups and their customers for the support and love of The Ridge, each of you have been an imperative part of our growth.  I will continue to be involved with this amazing facility going forward, but working in different capacities – working as an evangelist for our sport in our community, in event promotion, and consulting to the ownership group and current management team. And of course, instructing, coaching, and racin’!
