Where is The Ridge Motorsports Park Located

We are located on West Eells Hill Rd, NE, Shelton WA, just about 25 miles Northwest of Olympia WA. It would only be about 10 miles if that pesky Puget Sound wasn’t in the way. The road is pronounced LLLL’s, not like a sea creature. If you get lost, and ask for directions, we don’t want you to be embarrassed. Click here to see where we're at.

When is the first Road Course Event?

March 16, 2012, See our Events Page.

When is the Event on the Drag Strip?

No Events are scheduled yet for the Drag Strip. We hope to have the Drag Strip ready for operation by Mid June 2012.

Will the track operate at night?

Yes. Currently the plans are to operate the track until 10:00 PM. That is a hard shut off time, no exceptions. In our first full year (2012) we will end the schedule at dusk. If we have the demand we expect, then lights for the drag strip and paddock will be installed for 2013. Portable light plants are also a temporary option if the market demands it. But, let’s face it we are not going to buy lights just to see them sit unused.

Who can use the track?

Everyone. You need a vehicle that can be driven legally on the street or racetrack. This includes Street Bikes, Street Cars, Race Bikes and Race Cars, Karts, etc. This excludes John Deere farm tractors, dump trucks and excavators, to name a few. And no, you cannot run a Zamboni either.

Do I have to be a member of a car or motorcycle club?

Probably. Most facilities’ users are organizations that have some sort of membership program. You will probably be asked to join in order to participate in their event. Remember, it is your membership that allows the clubs and sanctioning bodies to have the confidence to rent the facilities. You DO NOT have to have active participation in the club activities, unless that specific club demands it.

What kind of racing will happen at this track?

Lots. Grudge match and run what you brung drag racing. Brackets, district 6 Regional’s (if certified), hybrid racing. Motorcycle road races, car and kart road races, endurance races, etc. WHAT YOU WILL NOT RACE: Pit bikes and carts, gas powered scooters, chain saw powered roller skates, or any other non track vehicle. You get caught racing around in the pits or paddock; you are done for the day. You do it more than that, well, let’s just say you can find another place to play because we will not tolerate it.

What kind of safety standards will there be at this track?

We will operate with the highest quality of safety standards available. There will be no organized or sanctioned events without emergency personnel with adequate first responder equipment on site. Each user group will identify who their point of contact is. That point of contact will have access to management the entire time they are on the grounds. It is the group’s responsibility to maintain a safe environment. You will keep your attendees happy, but safe. If you do not, the management will do it for you via flags and safety personnel. If your group generates a reputation as bringing unsafe events to the facility, see above, you can find somewhere else to play; we’ll do just fine without you.

How can I learn to race or drive my car on this racetrack?

Most organizations will have a novice program to get you started in your racing program of choice. It is anticipated there will be on site training and racing schools as well. And, you WILL learn to drive, ride, and if you choose, race, before you are let loose on your own. There is no program available where you can just show up and “drive the racing surface”. You will need to be part of an organized event.

What type of safety equipment is required?

Depends on the event and who is organizing it. And yes, everyone will wear a helmet, so no need to ask that one.

Will there be a place to store my car?

YES! Finally, there will be car storage at a track in the Pacific Northwest. Those of you who attended the user group meeting know the build-out schedule, but suffice it to say that the racing surface(s) and paddock/pit areas are priority one, control towers and flusher toilets priority two, and rental garages priority three. There is a strong possibility this year you will use the track while the other amenities are being built, so be patient. You can expect that one of the rental garages will be used as the classroom facility for the first year. Big towers and conference areas cost big dollars, and we are willing to make the investment, but we need to confirm that we have the market to support the investment.

What sort of facilities will be available at this track?

See above on garages, but also fuel will be available year one. Year two should bring more flush bathrooms as well as completed rental garages and small retail space. Local vendors will handle concessions in the beginning. However, we plan on providing a full service kitchen attached to the meeting areas, not only to serve the customer needs for lunch, etc, but also to host banquets and provide food service to clubs that want to have a meal catered to their customers.

What kinds of accommodation are near the track?

There are approximately 300 hotel rooms within a ten-mile radius. Some are high end, others very affordable. Also, many Bed and Breakfast operations as well, so you have a choice. Many types of food services are available as well; from big fast food franchises to locally owned restaurants. When you have the time and the choice, please choose to eat at one of the local restaurants. We really want to give back to the community that is hosting us, and voting with our dollars is the best way to do it.

What type of medical services will be available?

As stated above, no events will happen without onsite medical personnel. We are approximately 3 miles from an acute care hospital, Mason General. They in turn have helipad and life-fight capability to all major hospitals in Seattle and Portland.

Will there be facility to safely dispose of motor oil etc. at the track?

Yes. There will be a recycle center near the fuel vending location. This will be the exclusive location to dispose of any possible contaminants. Failure to use this (put differently, if you use something else like a garbage can or the paddock area) you will be asked to leave. We take our environmental responsibility very seriously, and so will you while you are at the facility.

What type of driver education is available at the track?

See above, but we expect not only onsite training but also organizers of track day events will provide novice training as well.

Is Autocross being considered at the facility?

Absolutely. Autocross is very much part of our plan. We will have sufficient paddock area to host an autocross event at the same time we are holding an event on one of the other racing surfaces (road course or drag strip). The paddock not being used that day will be available for autocross. In future years, we hope to be able to dedicate a specific are for autocross and skid pad use exclusively.
